The paper "Inference in cardiovascular modelling subject to medical interventions" by Mihaela Paun, Agnieszka Borowska and Dirk Husmeier, in collaboration with their North Carolina collaborators Mitchel Colebank and Mette Olufsen http://eprints.gla.ac.uk/248501/ has won the best paper award at this year's ICSTA conference (International Conference on Statistics: Theory and Applications). Christian Verga was interviewed by the Italian Radio for the Trentino region regarding the iHEART project. The iHeart project, whose PI is Alfio Quarteroni, is on cardiac modelling aligned to SofTMech's work.The interview was about the collaboration with Ospedale S. International Exchange Grant Congratulations to Prof Nick Hill (SofTMech Executive Director) on the award of a 2-year Royal Society of London-Newton Mobility Grant for a new collaboration with Dr Haofei Liu (Dept of Mechanics, Tianjin University, PR China). Their project is on `A numerical investigation of post-TEVAR dissection propagation and aortic expansion'.

This workshop is the second in a series of focussed meetings, co-funded by the EPSRC Network ‘Predictive mOdelling for hEalthcare through MathS (POEMS)’ and Centre for Multiscale Soft Tissue Mechanics (SoftMech). The focus of the workshop will be to bring together multidisciplinary groups (e.g. clinicians, biologists and modellers) and initiate dialogues and collaborations across disciplines, on challenges in relation to the mechanical and physical aspects of cancer.
