SofTMech CI Dr Peter Stewart has recently been awarded an EPSRC First Grant.

SofTMech CI Dr Peter Stewart has recently been awarded an EPSRC First Grant. This grant will consider the onset of retinal haemorrhage at the rear of the eye following a traumatic brain injury. In particular, the project will consider the propagation of a shock wave (an elastic jump) through a network of elastic vessels and their subsequent bursting. The aim will be to correlate the pattern of vessel rupture to the type of brain trauma sustained.

The project will commence in October 2017 and will employ a PDRA who will work at University of Glasgow in collaboration with SofTMech researchers.
