New EPSRC funded Centre for Future Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) Planning

Dr Sean McGinty, along with several SofTMech colleagues, have recently been successful in securing EPSRC funding to create a new Centre for Future Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) Planning.
 
The Centre, kicking off in Autumn 2024, aims to develop novel and robust mathematical and statistical methodologies, to create fast and accurate computational tools that will enable clinicians to plan and optimise PCI procedures. The highly multidisciplinary team consists of University of Glasgow mathematicians, statisticians, engineers and cardiologists,  supported by collaborators at Politecnico di Torino and several leading international clinical and industrial partners.

Speaker Line up announced

We are delighted to announce our public lecture speaker and line up of keynote speakers for the 7th Soft Tissue workshop to be held at Politecnico di Milano from the 11th to 13th June 2025. Alfio Quarteroni will give the public lecture. The key speaker line up is Alain Goriely, Guglielmo Lanzani, Jose F Rodriguez Matas, Santi Trimarchi and Linwei Wang. Liuyang's journey

At the end of 2023 we said goodbye to Liuyang Feng. Liuyang started his journey as a PhD student in 2015 working on computational modelling of the mitral valve. He then became a Research Associate with SofTMech from 2019 until 2023 during which time he developed one of the first whole heart FSI models with all valves in the field. We will all miss him and wish him good luck in his new post as a Scientific Software Development Engineer.
