CMALS "Show & Tell " Event:Wed. 28th April

The Centre for Mathematics Applied to the Life Sciences (CMALS) is a joint UoG-Strathclyde Centre that was formed in 2003 under the Synergy Agreement. The main themes of our research are: Disease; Treatment and diagnosis; Ecosystems and Biodiversity. Research across the Centre varies considerably and includes heart modelling, biological fluid dynamics, soft tissue mechanics, drug delivery, medical devices, marine science, ecology and epidemiology.

CMALS is organising an afternoon virtual ‘Show & Tell’ event on Wednesday 28th April.

The primary aims of the event are to stimulate new collaborations and to resume the lively conversations between the two Universities. Moreover, the event provides an opportunity to elect the CMALS committee for the coming years.

All members of staff from the Universities of Glasgow and Strathclyde who are doing mathematics applied to the life sciences (in the broadest sense) are invited to deliver a 5 minute talk (3 slides) providing a very brief overview of their research interests.

In addition, we are inviting non-mathematicians (e.g. engineers, life scientists, chemists) from across the universities and beyond (e.g. clinicians and industrialists) who are looking for collaboration with mathematicians/statisticians to give short presentations.

Please feel free to circulate to colleagues  that you feel may be interested in attending.

Please contact Dr Sean McGinty  sean.mcginty@glasgow.ac.uk as soon as possible to reserve your place (talk titles can be provided later).

In order to facilitate scheduling and organisation of the event, the deadline for registration is Wednesday 31st March.
